Baltic Amber accounts for nearly 80% of amber around the world. Amber is not actually a stone, but rather, tree resin—much like sap—which escaped from trees in what is now the Baltic Sea millions of years ago. The resin leaked from holes in the tree trunks and eventually hardened with the flora and fauna which became trapped inside. Baltic Amber is the lightest in color of all amber. It is often a yellowish gold color and translucent.

Baltic Amber contains a high amount of succinic acid.  When worn, your body heat warms up the Amber beads and aids in the release of the succinic acid. This acid is a natural analgesic. Therefore, when it’s released, it reduces one’s pain and inflammation.  Baltic Amber is one of the most potent, natural substances that can rid us of most of our common ailments such as arthritis and anxiety.

The yellow color of Amber is the most typical one since about 70% of this natural resin comes in it.  Green Amber is rare and very popular and accounts for only about 2% of all Amber.

Greenish Amber color was formed, after resin fell on plants and reacted with pigment chlorophyll that could be found in plants. Because of the Amber’s crystal structure, sometimes green Amber is called “sugar” Amber.

Red Amber also quite commonly referred to as Cherry. It is rarely natural (only about 2-3%) and in most cases is developed by exposing Amber to very high temperature.

Blue Amber is considered to be the rarest shade found.  Today only very little amounts of this natural resin are found in this color so it is almost impossible to find where to buy it from. If you would go looking for Amber only about 0.2% of it would come in blue color. One unique feature of this color is that Amber stone should be held in the right lighting in order to see blue shade or otherwise it will look like it is brown or yellow.

Black Amber accounts for about 15% of all Amber found naturally.  This color of Amber is not fully fossilized resin. It was formed when tree resin was mixed with soil, debris or some other inclusions.
